- Five hundreds employees at Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside voted to become members of SEIU-UHW.
- APWU Local 197 elected Tom Wood as president, effective May 1, 2008.

- Employees at Prudential Overall Supply Company in Vista voted to join UNITE-HERE Local 75.
- More than 150 people participated in a march from Horton Plaza to the State of California Building in Downtown San Diego on April 15. The march was in support members of CSEA Paraeducators Chapter 759 who are facing massive layoffs at area schools.
- Approximately 150 people participated in the Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice’s April 17 Passover Seder and Pilgrimage in support of SEIU Local 1877 janitors who are fighting for a fair contract with area office buildings.
- On April 22, members of United Domestic Workers rallied at the County Administration Center to protest the County Board of Supervisors’ unwillingness to pay in-home support service workers the amount deemed acceptable by the State of California. The workers have been offered a 35-cent raise over the next three years.
