• The AFL-CIO Western Region will hold their annual conference in San Diego, March 5-7 at the Handlery Hotel. The Labor Council will host a picnic for all attending on the evening of March 6.
• The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 4488 (Lakeside) have affiliated with the Labor Council.
• SEIU Local 1877 kicked off their Justice for Janitors campaign February 14. The local’s contracts with Downtown San Diego office buildings expire April 1.
• Teamster/GCIU members at the press room of the San Diego Union-Tribune will hold a rally at the newspaper’s Mission Valley headquarters on February 26 at noon. In an effort to bust the union, the newspaper has proposed a contract that will cut wages by 40 percent, eliminate family health care and eliminate seniority for vacation selection.
• IATSE Local 122 and Activist San Diego are co-sponsoring the showing of A Union Man: The Life and Work of Julius Margolin at the San Diego Museum of Art on February 23 at 2 p.m. A donation of $5 to $10 is suggested for those attending.
