After hearing overwhelming support from hundreds of workers, community members, clergy, and experts, the San Diego Unified School District board of trustees on May 26 voted 3-2 for a Project Stabilization Agreement, or Project Labor Agreement, for $2.1 billion in school construction, retrofitting and modernization projects.

San Diego is well-known for its long and storied military history. From Coronado’s Silver Strand to Oceanside’s Camp Pendleton, it’s impossible to spend a day in our region without a reminder of this history.

Thanks to the efforts of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the American Postal Workers, Organized Labor, their members and their employers, the San Diego Food Bank, and Feeding America San Diego, our food drive was successful once again.

At the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA), we understand that connection because our bond with each other runs as deep as our love of the outdoors.

The Labor Council joined union members across the state May 6 and 7 for a 24-hour vigil in support of the Employee Free Choice Act.

Old Town State Park’s latest restaurant opened on May 8 with much fanfare, as nine activists were arrested as part of UNITE HERE Local 30’s protest of the owner’s attempts to bust the union.

As we head into the summer months, the fight to pass the Employee Free Choice Act is heating up across the state. San Diego has two members of Congress and one Senator who co-sponsored the bill.
