Labor’s Legislative Hero of the Month - San Diego’s Employee Free Choice Act Co-Sponsors: Sen. Boxer & Reps. Filner & Davis

As we head into the summer months, the fight to pass the Employee Free Choice Act is heating up across the state.

San Diego has two members of Congress and one Senator who co-sponsored the bill.

While we work to convince Senator Dianne Feinstein to support the Employee Free Choice Act, it is important that we take a moment to thank our elected leaders who recognize that workers need the path to unionization leveled.

That is why the Labor Council recognizes Senator Barbara Boxer and Representatives Bob Filner and Susan Davis as this issue’s Legislative Heroes.

When the Employee Free Choice Act was introduced into Congress earlier this year, Sen. Boxer and Reps. Filner and Davis gladly signed their names as co-sponsors just as they did in 2007.

Corporate interests have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to defeat this important bill, and the right of workers to decide how they will form a union.

In the coming weeks workers and our allies will write even more letters and place even more phone call to Sen. Feinstein’s office. While we continue this important work, we can’t forget to those stand alongside Labor.

Union members must support elected officials who show leadership and recognize the need to fix our broken labor laws.
