Local Ironworkers Join Coalition to Build a New Stadium for the Chargers, Region
In hopes of finding a solution to replace Qualcomm Stadium, the Ironworkers Local 229 have joined with those in the community to help find a viable option for the construction of a new stadium.
The San Diego Stadium Coalition is a grassroots community organization whose members are committed to working with municipal entities to ensure the construction of a world class stadium within San Diego County.
“I believe by being proactive in our community and working together we can achieve our goals,” Local 229 President Jose Naranjo said. “The Ironworkers want to take steps to being a part of this great community and help all working families.”
The coalition believes that a new facility will serve as a home for not only the Chargers, but San Diego State Aztecs, college football bowl games, and other local sporting and cultural events.
