FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN DIEGO – September 30, 2016 – The San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO finalized its November 2016 endorsement list at Wednesday night’s monthly meeting of Labor Council’s Delegates.

All endorsed candidates participated in an extensive screening process with rank-and-file members and union leadership, which included a mandatory questionnaire, interview and approval of both the Executive Board and the Delegates. Candidates endorsed in advance of the June primary who did not win their races outright were automatically advanced as
a November endorsement.

“Working families have a lot on the line in this election, with important opportunities to support candidates who share our values and ballot measures that will strengthen our democracy,” said Dale Kelly Bankhead, secretary-treasurer of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO, “In the city of San Diego, for example, Measures K and L will ensure that important decisions on candidates and ballot initiatives are made in November, when the most people vote.”
