San Diego's housing crisis is a class issue. While 10,000+ homes sit empty or as mini-hotels, the working class is priced out. The Empty Second Home & Vacation Rental Tax will ensure the wealthy, less than 1%, & mega-corporations pay their fair share for hoarding housing AND will open up housing for San Diegans.
To make San Diego work for San Diegans, we fight back by organizing and showing our power.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1. SHOW UP & PACK THE RULES COMMITTEE HEARING!
When: Wednesday, January 28
Arrive by 8:30 AM to grab seats before the SD Chamber of Commerce fills them!
Where: San Diego City Hall - City Council Rules Committee, 202 C St.
Why: Pack the room! Give public comment if you can. Show the Council that UNIONS & COMMUNITY demand this.
RSVP on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/4231468967112732/
2. CALL YOUR SAN DIEGO CITY COUNCILMEMBER NOW!
Tell them to support the Empty Second Home & Vacation Rental Tax. Our needs over greed. Find councilmember info at sandiego.gov/citycouncil
3. SIGN & SHARE THE PETITION:

WHAT'S NEXT: If it passes committee, it goes to the full City Council in March 2026. If the San Diego City Council approves, it goes to the June 2026 ballot as a Measure for YOU to decide! This is how we build a San Diego for the many, not the few.
